This is an article which gives you the information about Universal Serial Bus (USB), which has been an importance interface for connecting devices and transfer of data. Also you will know the difference about the latest USB 3.0 and the older version of it USB 2.0. You will know what is the difference between then and why we have moved into this USB 3.0 now.

USB

Universal Serial Bus (USB)

Computer from the day it was found it has been improving changing and bringing us many new things which make our life go simple and ease. Also those components which add to them gives the fast-approaching universality with all other devices which are innovated and also information which can be access and managed easily. Unlike on such device which we are going to see is USB, the Universal Serial Bus. This USB has been created 20 years back for industries as a standard and associations for very end backs up. This USB would simply resolve the issues claiming it to be efficient, reliable and security for computing devices like the USB connectors and cable. Using USB, we can connect our computer to other electronic devices for transferring the data just like what a Xerox sans paper and ink do for spreading the same information.

As said, it has been 20 years and USB has found many changes as the years passed by. The reiterations which happens in this technology world has shaped the USB to have a three distinct generations each having their own story.

The Progenitor: USB 1.1

In 1994, the computers created the revolution in the business world and in the consumer market. So from that time, there had been much improvement in the computer hardware and peripheral technology from basic things like mouse, keyboards, hard disk and drives. They were specially designed as in need for each business models and built with many slots to accommodate an array of plug-ins based on each business needs. The industry experts realized and came under the need of this Universal Connector to curb the influx which confuses the connections and their departed work for it. After years a new USB 1.0 was designed but only in 1998 the first USB was released with a version 1.1, which is the advanced version of USB 1.0. Also the USB 1.1 was designed to have two set of speeds in transferring the data, one is the low ranging of 1.5 Mbit/s which was used for keyboards and other basic peripherals and other is high ranging of 12 Mbit/s which was designed for connecting to cameras and other devices.

Seasoned Veteran: USB 2.0

As USB 1.1 was designed for establishing a new universal connectivity system for computer and other electronic devices, but speed was an underlying issue which many of them found it to be slow and experts were working on increase it. So, experts conducted a research on all USB flash drives and Wireless USB devices to increase the speed. And finally in 2000 they innovated a USB connections speeds ranging up to 480 Mbit/s which was called as USB 2.0. On this increase in speed, the flash drives enabled with USB 2.0 were made available in the market in early 2001. The connectivity deployed with USB 2.0 gave an onslaught transfer method for new gadgets having high resolution digital cameras, USB microscope, Blackberries mobile phones and also many gaming equipment and devices at that time.

Super Speed: USB 3.0

USB 3.0 Is Coming to Smartphones and Tablets
Well, finally it's now the USB 3.0, the latest invented, a upgraded technology from USB 2.0 which is now the hot hub technology for all new and latest devices. The only which made it to be the upgraded version is the transmission speed which ranges up to 5Gbit/s. This is something which is unbelievable and it is 10 times faster than the fastest the older USB 2.0 connection. This USB 3.0 interface will make the computer and electronic devices to get more sophisticated and advanced with the speedier transfer rate. Also this USB 3.0 was literally named as Super Speed USB 3.0, as it allows virtual and instantaneous transfer of data. This transmission is regardless of the file type and they transfer virtually which makes USB 3.0 to be more compatible for any devices. They also reduce the synchronization time between devices and allow the users to plug and unplug without any loss of data.

Very high speeds
The USB 3.0 which is designed with high speed has become the major advancement from the earlier version of USB 2.0. The USB 3.0 can connect and communicate with the host controller at a speed of 4.8 Gbps which unimaginable. Also the USB 3.0 is backward compatible as it can be used with both USB 1.0 and USB 2.0 interfaces. When USB 2.0 was introduced, it had a maximum speed of 480 Mbps which was quite enough at that time for those devices. But now as the specification and features of devices are being improved with the latest technology where the device with capacity of 64 GB finds itself to be too slow with the USB 2.o interface for transferring data. So in this kind of situation, the data transfer takes a hours of time with USB 2.0 and thus the need of USB 3.0 came and created a revolution for data transfer with a maximum speed of 4.8 Gbps between devices and computers. This speed of USB 3.0 is nearly 10 times greater than the speeds of USB 2.0
USB 3.0 vs USB 2.0

Moreover, the change which this USB 3.0 brings is high undefinable as they can be used as chargers are all USB compatible devices. Well, now days we have many phones and gadgets to have the USB chargers which helps to charge them universally without any difference between the phone charger models which are in existence. The USB 3.0 created an impact on the importance and dependable over it in the technology market by its Universal Connectivity method. So, USB 3.0 will be the supreme universal connector for all devices until there is a huge demand to make direct plug-ins between devices.
