Govt Aakash 2 tablet PC features and specifications

HRD Minister Kapil Sibal informed that the second version of Aakash tablet (Aakash II) is expected to release in April. The expert team of IIT Rajasthan is designing the prototype of Aakash II tablet. Read the below article to get the features, specification and price of Aakash 2 tablet.

Human Resource Development Minister Mr. Kapil Sibal has confirmed the launch of improved Aakash tablet to meet the shortcomings of first version of Aakash. The HRD Minister said, "In order to cater to the huge demand, we need several manufacturers to manufacture Aakash. We are enhancing the specifications on the basis of feedback we have received from the first version of Aakash. So we want to make sure that the upgraded product caters to the need of the customers. We have involved ITI in order to upgrade it. We will be able to bring in Aakash-II by April." The Aakash 2 team has not yet officially declared the price of Aakash 2. But the HRD Minister has announced that Aakash 2 will be available at the price of Aakash students version.

Features and Specification of Aakash 2


Datawind, the manufacturer of Aakash tablet has also expected to launch an improved version of Aakash Tablet known as Ubislate 7+. Click here to know the features and specification of Ubislate 7+. HRD Minister Kapil Sibal confirmed that their Aakash 2 is different from Ubislate 7+. The prototype of Aakash 2 is being designed by the team of IIT Rajasthan. So the complete configuration is not yet known. Some of the features are listed below.

  • 800 megaheartz microprocess (upgraded from 366).

  • 7 inch screen.

  • 1GB RAM.

  • Can download YouTube videos.

  • 50 % more battery life.

  • 1 GB RAM (upgraded from 256 MB).

  • Built in Camera for Video Chatting.


  • The Human Resource Development Ministry is expected to float tenders from companies to supply Aakash 2. Reports says that the government do not want to extend their partnership with Datawind as the company allegedly violated the contract by selling the Akash students tablet (Ubislate) in open market before providing the tablets to the government. The Ministry is expecting to provide about a million Aakash tablets to college students in the next few years. Government is planning for the development is education sector, but the entry of Aakash first version did not support much for that. So we have to wait and see how much can Aakash 2 satisfy the customers.
