This articles tries to throw light on general troubleshooting for USB device related problems in your computer.


How to generally troubleshoot for USB device related problems in your computer?



Though the USB device is a handy one, it has got the following limitations about which we should know before going for troubleshooting the problems relating to it.

Limitation No.1: Insufficient supply of power: Most of the USB device/s receive power directly from the USB port of your computer. Therefore, connecting too many unpowered USB device/s to your computer's USB hub should be avoided and it may result in a power shortage for USB device/s attached with your computer.

Limitation No.2: Excessive or more length: Generally the USB device/s should not be more than 5 or more meters away from your computer's USB hub it is connected to.

Limitation No.3: Too many or more devices: An USB device may support up to a maximum of 127 device/s while connected to your computer's single USB host controller.

Limitation No.4: The speed of USB device/s: You may please check whether your USB device surely supports a Hi-Speed device [480 Mbps] or a Full-Speed device [12 Mbps].

Even then, if you are experiencing problems, please follow the following steps, which may resolve them quickly:

1. Restart your computer: It is sure that some or many software/s may have the requirement of rebooting before it starts functioning properly and correctly. Also, on the other side, reboot of your computer forces / makes Windows 7 Operating System to detect your computer's USB hardware once again.

2. Further, you may like to run your Windows Update or you can check the respective USB device/s manufacturer website for the possible latest driver update.

3. Alternatively, you can uninstall the USB device's driver and / or software, after disconnecting the USB device/s, you can once again restart the computer and then scrupulously you may follow the manufacturer's instructions / advice for reinstalling the said software.

4. Last but not the least, you can just disconnect the USB device/s from your computer and try to reconnect it to a totally different USB port, which forces / makes Windows 7 Operating System to detect the device as a new one and at the same time re-installs the requisite driver.

5. Finally, you can also replace the USB cable for the USB device/s with a completely newer one.
