This article explains Microsoft Indic Language Input Tool include Desktop and Web version which is used to type the 10 Indian languages in your Windows applications and Web sites.
Microsoft Indic Language Input Tool
Microsoft recently launched
Indic Language Input Tool
to support Indian languages in Windows operating system. It will be useful for all the Indian users who want to work with Indian languages. This tool will help you to type the Indian languages.
Indic Language Input Tool
support 10 Indian languages include Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, Bengali, Gujarati, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya and Punjabi. It is like other tools to help us in typing the Indian languages in our native format.
Indic Language Input Tool
is available in
Web version
and
Desktop Version
is the advantage of using the tool.
Once the
Indic Language Input Tool
Desktop version is installed in the system then it will work with your office applications and other applications which are installed in Windows operating system. Once the Web version is installed and it will be available for all the web pages when you browse. It can be used as a Virtual keyboard.
Indic Language Input Tool
is supported in Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. Once the tool is installed in the system you can make the language available in the desktop language tool.

Select the specific language that you want to install and once the language is installed to the system you can add the language tool bar to the
Taskbar
for your system.
You can add the language tool bar to the Taskbar, Open
Control Panel
and open the
Region and Language
and select
keyboard and Languages
tab and click
Change keyboards
button will open a new
Text Services and Input Languages
Window and select
Language Bar
and select
Docked in the taskbar
or
Floating On Desktop
and click
OK
button to add the language tool bar to the Taskbar (Check the below screenshot).
Even you can add the Microsoft Indic languages Input Tool to your web sites, so that the users of the web site can type in Tamil text or the other supported Indian languages.
Microsoft Indic languages Input Tool can be used in your web sites for free for non-commercial purpose only
In order to include the Microsoft Indic languages Input Tool to your web site you need to include the small piece of code. Check the below link to get the code for

For Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Safari all the input fields like plain text fields and rich text fields are supported. In Opera only plain text fields are supported.
You can enable or disable the translation in your web site by enabling the
Opt-out Mode
. you can also specify each and every text field to enable or disable the Microsoft Indic Language Input Tool by adding MicrosoftILITWebAttach="false" or "True" attribute to the text fields.
