This article is a review to Microsoft OneNOte which Mr. Bill Gates himself admits to use as an organizing software
You would like to print documents and make tables or you want to prepare official documents of prepare balance sheet of your company, you would use Microsoft Office for the work. Office is one product which you would see on everyone's computer. With the advent of time, Microsoft Office has released new products. Each one of them made an impact on the way things can be done. While Microsoft Office comes with many products which include everything to manage your desk, people are still stuck with mostly three applications in the fabulous suite: Word, PowerPoint and Excel. A few people use Outlook apart from these three but still, most of them are stuck with the famous trinity of word-excel-PowerPoint. The rest of the products in the suite remain unused. This article is about one great product in the suite which remains mostly unused – the OneNote.
Microsoft OneNote
is one product which can be used for research work, it can be used as a to-do-list manager, to take simple notes and organize them well!
Microsoft OneNote
can be used to manage the notebooks which you would use in your daily life to take small notes, but in a better way. It is a matter of fact that Mr. Bill Gates himself uses it to organize his desk! Just Google for his comments and you will find his comments for sure. So, here are the features of this fabulous software which I believe will be enough to make you start using OneNote:
Multiple Notebooks – Microsoft OneNote
: You will have more than one notebook when you install it! So you can create new notebooks for every new thing that you want to add. That is good when you are searching for more than one thing on the internet and using the
Microsoft OneNote
to organize what you are searching. For a schoolchild, this is just like having more than one notebook for each subject in his bag!
More than one section
On Every notebook that you create, you will have the freedom to create sections within it. It is something like taking notes of every chapter separately. This helps immensely in the research work which needs a lot and lot of things to be organized.
Multiple pages per section
: You can have more than one pages for every section in every notebook. Now that is one more level of organization!
Unclassified pages – Microsoft OneNote
: You can create pages which do not belong to any of the sections in the notebook. This is best for short notes.
Tablet input support
: If you have a tablet PC which features a touch screen interface then you can also use
Microsoft OneNote
to scribble the notes in your handwriting.
Conversion of handwriting to text
: The software makes use of the handwriting recognition technology and converts your handwritten notes to text. This feature is useful for those who prefer to use a pen than a keyboard. It helps you do what you like to!
Collaboration tool
: If you have something to discuss online through notes, you can do that right in
Microsoft OneNote
. You can set permissions for people and the notes and people who are permitted to can edit your noted an add their own notes and comments which is great to collaborate over the internet.
Multimedia support
: If you have to record some video or audio and add them to your note even that can be done. All you need for that is to install your audio and video devices and install the drivers. This is special useful when you carry your laptop in some seminar and you have a webcam and microphone installed on the laptop.
Sync with outlook
: You can import tasks from outlook and have them as notes. This is good, especially when you want to have the same thing at two places to remind you from two directions, good for forgetful people!
It's a PIM (personal information manager): Not only can you import tasks from outlook, but you can also create them right in the Microsoft OneNote and save them. You can schedule anything from a meeting to a movie show; manage projects or an address book. All this can be done and organized well in the OneNote. Since you can have different notebooks and sections in them, it makes organizing things much easier.
There is no apparent reason why one should not use Microsoft OneNote often, especially when it can be used for so many purposes.
Microsoft OneNote
does the best in the category of its software – organize bits of information! Convinced enough to explore it, aren't you?
