Difference between Domain, Work Group and Home Group
The domain, work groups and home groups are different ways of arranging the computers in a network. This article explain the difference between domain, work group and a home group.
Work Group
: In a work the computers are arranged in a network in such a way that all the computers are peers. None of the computers in the work group controls the other computers. If you want to login to a computer in a work group, you should have a user account in that computer. Normally we can see around 20 computers in a work group.
Home Group
: In a home group, the computers must necessarily belong to a work group and also belong to home group. It is easy to share images, songs, videos or documents with other computers in a home group. One feature of home group is that you must type a password once when you are adding your computer to the home group.
Domain
: In a domain the computers are arranged in such a way that one or more computers are servers. The servers are used by administrators of the netwsork to control the other computers. It is possible to login to any computer in a domain if you just have a user account on the domain. There is no need to have a user account on each computer to login. There is no limit on the number of computers in a domain.
