Some times we do not want to give access to Task manager to other users. It is possible to either enable or disable access to Task Manager in Windows 7. In this article you will learn how to disable access to Task Manager in Windows 7.

Disabling or enabling the Task Manager in Windows 7 is very easy. It is possible to either enable or disable the Task Manager with the help of Registry key. There is a Registry key with the help of which we can disable the Task Manager.

  • First click on Start button and type 'regedit' in the search box.

  • This will open the Registry editor window. Now navigate to the following key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

  • Now create a new 32 bit DWORD value and name it as 'DisableTaskMgr'.

  • Now double click on the new DWORD and set its data value to 1.


  • Now the Task Manager in your Windows 7 computer is disabled. If you want to enable it, change the data value to 0.
