The processor inside a computer is the most powser hungry component inside a computer. This article gives details about the power consumption of different models and types of Intel processors.

  • Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (2.40 GHz):
    1. Idle Condition : 154 Watts
    2. Load Condition : 243 Watts

  • Intel Core 2 Duo E4700 (2.60 GHz):
    1. Idle Condition : 144 Watts
    2. Load Condition : 240 Watts

  • Phenom II X4 945(3.00 GHz):
    1. Idle Condition : 139 Watts
    2. Load Condition : 220 Watts

  • Athlon II X4 620(2.60 GHz):
    1. Idle Condition : 153 Watts
    2. Load Condition : 204 Watts

  • Phenom II X2 550(3.10 GHz):
    1. Idle Condition : 150 Watts
    2. Load Condition : 196 Watts

  • Intel Core i5 750 (2.66 GHz):
    1. Idle Condition : 106 Watts
    2. Load Condition : 178 Watts

  • Intel Core i5 661 (3.33 GHz):
    1. Idle Condition : 88 Watts
    2. Load Condition : 142 Watts

  • This shows that the Intel Core i5 661 configuration uses only 88 watts at idle and 142 watts under load condition. So the Intel Core i5 661 is nearly 20% more efficient than the Core i5 750 when under load condition, and nearly 35% more efficient than Phenom II X4 945 processor.
