Can I upgrade to 64 bit Windows 7 from 32 bit Windows 7

There are two versions of Windows 7 that you can install in your computer. The 32 bit and the 64 bit versions are available. But is it possible to upgrade from 32 bit version to 64 bit version of Windows 7? The answer is 'No'. It is not possible to upgrade from 32 bit version of Windows 7 to 64 bit version of Windows 7 in your computer.

The actual meaning of 32 bit and 64 bit is the memory address length that your Processor can refer. You can address a maximum memory of 4 GB with 32 bit version of Windows 7. But it is theoretically possible to use a memory of more than 16 million tera bytes of memory with 64 bit version of Windows 7.

If you are running a 32 bit version of Windows 7 in your computer, it is only possible to upgrade to another 32 bit version of Windows 7 but not to 64 bit version of Windows 7.

The main requirement for installing 64 bit Windows 7 operating system in your computer is that you should have a 64 bit Processor. For more information about the difference between 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Windows 7 please Click here to see my article on the topic.
