How to Set up Manually Advanced Settings for Windows XP firewall in Windows XP?

With the help of Windows XP firewall you can protect your computer from the outer or public network.
This public or outer network can steal your private data from your computer. So, it's very important to save your computer from it.

Now follow the below steps for manual advance settings for windows firewall in Windows XP.

1) Click on Start button, then click on Control Panel, then click on Network Connections. Here you can see the Local Area Connection, right-click it and select the Properties option.

2) Now click on Advanced tab option.

3)Here you will find Network Setup Wizard on bottom, now click it.

4) Now Network setup wizard will open a new window for it. Now click on Next button to continue.

5) You can review all the check list for creating a network for you computer. All you have to do is click on Checklist for creating a network option. Otherwise click on Next button.

6) Now you can view new screen with the titled Do you want to use the shared connection. It have 2 options for it.

1.Yes, use the existing shared connection for this computer's Internet access (recommended)

2.No, let me choose another way to connect to the Internet
Just select the option Yes which is recommended option and then click on NEXT button.

7) Now type the computer description and computer name. Then click on NEXT button.

8) Now next screen will be of Name your network. Here you have to enter your workgroup name. It automatically takes the workgroup name. Then click on NEXT button.

9) Now again click on Next button for confirmation.

10) Now you can see the screen where you would like to run this network set up wizard. Choose the option Just finish the wizard; I don't need to run the wizard on other computers option and then click on NEXT button.

Already setup manually Advanced Settings for Windows XP firewall in Windows XP


If you have already setup manually advanced settings for windows XP firewall in windows XP, then there is no use to setup advanced settings again. Then you can follow these below steps.

1) Click on Settings button on advanced tab option in internet connection property. Here you can add the services or edit the services which are running on your computer. If you think that some service is missing then you can add the services otherwise you can edit any of the services.

2) In advanced settings you can select Log dropped packets and/or Log Successful Connections option.

3) In ICMP (Internet Control Message Protocol) option you can select those network where you want to firewalled system to respond.

Now manually internet connection firewall is setup in Windows XP.
