Tips to keep your computer highly protected from dangerous threats

Every computer user is highly worried of the security of his/her system. We tend to miss following some simple things which make our computer more vulnerable to threats. I have prepared a checklist of my own which I keep checking on a regular basis to avoid such threats to my personal computer.

1) Always make sure that you have an antivirus installed on your computer. Anti virus helps in preventing threats from entering your computer. It scans the emails that we receive, the USB devices that we attach to our computer and all the files and folders on our system regularly to check if any threat has entered our system and warns us against it.

2) Always use the latest version of internet explorer or other browser you are using. The latest versions comes with security and privacy enhancements, hence it is always recommended to use them to avoid security threats.

3) Be alert before opening any email attachments. Do not open attachments when you are not sure of the recipient. Sometimes we receive emails from our contact list addresses which contains threats attached to them. Perform a thorough scan of your attachment before opening it.

4) Using Windows Firewall helps you get alerts or security threats. So do not deactivate the firewall unless highly required.

Follow these simple tips and be rest assured of your system security.

I would like to add some more points to enjoy safe and secure system.

1. Always scan a external storage device by an updated anti virus software before connecting to your computer.

2. Avoid down loading from an unknown site.

3. Check regularly all the files and folders by scheduled scan by anti virus software once a week.

4. Keep updating your anti virus online.
