How to take ownership of files and folders in windows 7
Windows 7 has the most advanced security features which help us to protect our files. The security feature allows us to protect our files so that others get error message if they try to read or change the folders that do not belong to them. If you want to read or change the files in windows 7, you need to take the ownership of these files. The following steps gives a detailed procedure to have ownership of files and folders.
You must first select the file or folder that you want to take the ownership and then right click and select 'properties'.
Now select the 'Security' tab and click on 'Advanced'.
Now you should select 'Owner' tab and click on 'Edit'
Choose the new owner of the files, check the "replace owner on subcontainers and objects" and click OK
You will now be presented with a notice that a new user is given full control - if you want to give full control, then click on 'Yes'. Then click on 'OK' on all of the remaining windows so that you will now have full control on the files or folders.
