How to locate lost folders and files in Windows XP

This resource will make you learn about finding out your lost files and folders in windows XP.


I have tried to give you six different ways to find out your lost file and folder.Choose according to your need.
:How to locate lost folders and files in Windows XP
1.In the 'My Documents' folder click 'Start', and then click 'My Documents'.

2.In the default save location of the program you used to open or create the file there you open the program then on the 'File menu', click 'Save As'. You know what happens, this will open the program's default save location where the file is saved.

3.First click 'start' then click 'search', there to search your lost document, click on 'Documents(Word, Excel, etc.) and get the files. Otherwise to search for another file type then clicks 'Other files or folders'.

4.In the systemroot\Windows\system32 folder Click 'Start' and then click 'My Computer'. After that you double click the hard disk icon to display the contents of the root directory e.g.:- C:\ etc. Again Double click the systemroot folder, and then double-click system32 because you will find your lost file or folder.

5.You can also find your lost files in directory. So, first you have to Click 'Start' and then click 'My Computer'. There you double click the hard disk icon to display the contents of the root directory. For example, C:\ etc

6.The lost folder can also be found in program where you used to open or create the files. So, you have to Click 'Start' and then click 'My Computer'. Then double click the hard disk icon to display the contents of the root directory. E.g.:- C:\.Double-click the 'Program Files' folder, and then double-click the file or folder you want to open.
See, it's so simple to find the files. Now no more you have to mess with your computer to find your lost files.
