This article explains how to modify the Windows 7 shut down button to Switch user, Log off, Lock, Sleep or Hibernate. This option is available only in Windows 7.
Customizing Windows 7 Shut down Button
Usually at the end of the day when we complete our tasks in PC we either do any of these actions shut down or hibernate or logoff. Sometimes we may restart our PC once any installation is over. Some people may shut down their PC's rarely instead they used to
logoff
or
hibernate
.
In the Windows Start menu, shut down button lists the other options like logoff, hibernate, restart or sleep.
If you frequently make use of
hibernate
or
logoff
here is an option to change the shut down button to hibernate or logoff whichever action is performed frequently.
Step1:
Right Click on the
Start
menu and select
properties
, Taskbar and Start menu properties dialog will appear.
Step2:
Select Start menu tab. By default the
Power button action
is set to
Shut down
option. To change the power button action to restart or logoff click the drop down arrow it will lists remaining options and choose your favourite action which you perform frequently.
Now the
Shut down
has changed to
Hibernate
option.
