I will explain to you what are the various steps that are required to install the device drivers using the CONFIG SYS DEVICE entry in your system?


Installation of the device drivers



A device driver is special software that lets DOS or windows to use a hardware device and act as the supporters for the hardware devices and provide full virtual assistance to them. We can say that it acts as interface between the user and the hardware that allows the user to interact with the hardware through the help of drivers.

Normally users load this special device driver software when their system starts. One way to install device drivers software is using the CONFIG.SYS DEVICE entry.

The following are the steps required to install device drivers using CONFIG.SYS DEVICE entry.



How to install the device drivers using the CONFIG.SYS file?



* Firstly, Copy Device driver file to your hard disk as it is your permanent data storage medium by placing the file in a directory other than the roof.

* Edit the CONFIG.SYS file using an ASCII text editor such as Edit.

* Place a device Entry with the CONFG>SYS that specifies the complete path name to the device driver file.

* Save the changes to the CONFIG>SYS file and EXIT out from the Editor.

* Restart the system and after that you can see the changes applied to your system, as device driver are fully installed in your system.
