Changing the default langauge of Windows 7 login screen

You can change the default language for windows 7 login screen using the Region and Language option in control panel. You need to use the Keyboards and Languages tab in the Region and languages settings for changing the default langauge of welcome screen in windows 7.

One thing to note is that if your windows 7 version does not support multi language, then it is not possible to use the multilingual user interface functionality for changing the default language for the welcome screen. This feature is available only in Windows 7 Ultimate and Enterprise edition. Please follow the steps given below to change the default language of windows 7 logon screen.

  • Open Control Panel -> Clock Language and Region as shown below.

  • Clock Language and region settings in windows 7

The langauge settings can be changed only from the Keyboards and Languages tab as shown below.
Choosing a display language in windows 7

  • Now goto Administrative tab in Region and language settings window and click on 'Copy settings' button. Now you will see the current language settings on current user, welcome screen and new user account.

If you want to make the default language setting on welcome screen the same as your account, you can simply check the option "welcome screen and system accouonts" at the bottom.

  • Click OK to save the setting, and reboot the computer for the change to take effect.
