In this resource I would like to introduce an excellent feature of Windows 7 - Problem Steps Recorder, known as PSR in short.
Problem Steps Recorder in Windows7
Many of us generally involve ourselves in helping our friends and family, whenever they have any general issue while working on their PC. In simple terms we turn out to be unpaid system Administrators for our near and dear. This is true with almost many of us.
Here starts the actual headache. May it be an actual system administrator or a needful system administrator for friends and family, the first problem comes while understanding the issue. Yes, if you are a system administrator you would definitely say Yes for this question.
Many times we find it very difficult to understand the exact problem. This might be because of the poor communication of the user facing the problem or the limited knowledge on the problem to the user facing the problem.
In such situations, we have to wait near the computer till the problem occurs again to give a solution to it. In some cases we ask the user to make a note of all the steps he is following and also sometimes ask them to take screen shots of the issue for our better understanding of the problem.
If the user misses or fails to take a note of the complete steps, then the whole thing becomes a mess again. To overcome this problem there is an excellent feature being provided with Windows 7 operating system. This is nothing but the Problem Steps Recorder.
To access the problem steps Recorder(PSR), go to start in Windows7 and type
psr.exe
and click enter.
PSR window opens up. Click on Start Record. now whatever work is being done on the computer is recorded and is saved in the form of MHTML file which is in zipped format. This can be emailed or can be viewed at a later stage to know the problem and troubleshoot it efficiently.
