1.Restore the Quick Launch Toolbar in windows 7


To restore the Quick Launch Toolbar right-click the taskbar, choose Toolbars > New Toolbar, type "%UserProfile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch" into the Folder box and click Select Folder.
Then right-click the taskbar, clear 'Lock the taskbar', it will move Launch toolbar, probably to the right. Right-click its divider, clear Show Text and Show Title to minimise the space it takes up. Then right-click the bar and select View > Small Icons for the true retro look.

2.Custom power switch in windows 7


You must be seeing a plain text 'Shut down' button on the Start menu which you may change. Right-click the Start orb, select Properties and set the 'Power boot action' to 'Restart' to do so.


3.Auto arrange your desktop


Right-click on screen and select View > Auto arrange, just as in Vista to auto arrange your desktop .Another way is to press and hold down F5, and Windows will arrange its icons for you.

4.Disable smart window arrangement


To disable the smart window arrangement . Run REGEDIT, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop, set WindowArrangementActive to 0 andreboot.

5.Browse your tasks


Press Windows and T, and then move the focus to the left-most icon on the taskbar. Then use your arrow keys to change the focus to other icons, and it will give a live preview of every window.

6.Display drives


If uou want to display drives in computer Launch Explorer, click Tools > Folder Options > View and clear 'Hide empty drives in the computer folder'.

7.Windows 7 magnifier


With the new Windows 7 magnifier you can easily zoom in on any area of the screen.

8.Hide the Windows Live Messenger icon


If you want to keep Windows Live Messenger in the system tray instead of the task bar , edit the shortcut properties and set the application to run in Windows Vista compatibility mode.

9.Customise UAC


To Customise UAC go to Start > Control Panel > Change User Account Control Settings.

10.Sticky Notes


You can use the Sticky Notes in Windows 7 to type notes at the keyboard, right-click a note to change its colour.
