This article explains various ways to open the command prompt in Windows 7
MS Dos is history, but a lot of people like to work with the command prompt in Windows 7. The Command prompt is not exactly th eold MS Dos. But the DOS developers still love the see the DOS looking command prompt in Windows 7. Sometimes, the command prompt is easier to use for various tasks for power users.
This article explaints various options to launch the command prompt in Windows 7.
Launch command prompt from Accessories
- Click on Windows 7 start menu
- Click on 'All Programs'
- Click on 'Accessories'
- Select 'Command Prompt'
This will open the command prompt window.
Open from Search window
This is my favorite option.
- Click on Windows 7 start menu
- Type 'cmd'
- Click on 'cmd.exe' in the search results
This will open the comman dprompt.
Open command prompt from any folder in Windows Explorer
When you are working with Windows explorer and like to open command prompt in a specific folder, follow the steps below:
- Press the SHIFT key.
- While holding the SHIFT key, click on the right panel of explorer in an empty area.
- Click on 'Open command window here'.
This will open the command prompt window with the currently selected folder as the current folder.
