This article explains how to make use of Accelerator feature available in Internet Explorer 8. Accelerator feature provides preview information with out navigating to other Windows.

Normally we used to open one or more number of browsers like internet explorer depending on our task and we switch between these browsers to find out some additional information.

The Internet Explorer 8 provides with a feature called Accelerators, it has lot of options embedded in a single click and it is not required to open n no. of pages to get required information.

Usually to find out an address you need to open either Google maps or Bing maps in a separate Window but IE8 allows you to get the preview information within the same page itself by just selecting the address.

IE8 allows you to perform routine task without navigating to other sites.

Steps to make use of this Accelerator

Select any text or word from the page where you are, a blue arrow shaped icon called Accelerator will appear near your selected text.

Click on the blue icon and it will display the few add-ons available like Map with Bing, E-mail with Windows live (It opens Hotmail mail box), Translate with Bing (Translates the selected text to other available languages).

All Accelerators option displays the list of add-ons presently available. It is also possible to add other add-ons from the IE gallery.

By single click it is possible to translate a word to other languages and it is done in the same page.

Select 'Translate with Bing' option, it translates the selected text to other languages.

Map with Bing allows you to get a preview of the map by just selecting the address.

Accelerators can be added as per the user wish from Manage Accelerators option. It will display the few add-ons also it allows to add some more add-ons from Internet Explorer gallery.
