How to configure parental controls in Windows 7

The parental control is a nice feature introduced in Windows 7. This features will help you to set limits on how other users will use your computer. For example you can set limits on the amount of time a user can use your computer, or you can set a limit on whether a user can play games or not on your acomputer. This feature is very very useful for the parents to control the usage of their computer by their children.

If a child wants to play a game and clicks on it for playing, a notification message is displayed saying that the game is blocked. But your child can click on a link to request for permission to access that game. The administrator only can give access.

There should be an administrator account to set the parental control. The parental control can be applied to the standard user accounts.

To set parental control on a standard user account in windows 7 computer, please follow the following steps.

1. Click on Start-->Control Panel.
2. Now a control panel windows opens up. In the control panel window, click on 'User accounts and Family Safety' link.
3. Now click on 'Parental Controls' link.
4. Now another window opens up, asking 'Choose the user and set up the parental controls'.
5. Click on the user account for which you want to set up parental control.
6. Now another windows appears, asking you to set up how the user will use the computer.
7. Now click on 'Allow and block specific program' link under 'Windows Settings'.
8. There will be two radio buttons in the next window asking whether the user can use all the programs or the user can use only the selected programs from a list. The option can be selected based on how you want the user to use the programs in your computer.
