How to Change your DNS settings to use Google Public DNS in windows 7

This resource about, how to change your ISP's DNS address to Google public DNS. By changing to Google DNS, how you can improve your Internet Speed significantly.


Here's how:

1. First Click "Start" button and click "Control Panel".
2. In 'control panel' click "Network and Internet".
3. Next, click "Network and Sharing Center".
4. Then click "Connect to a Network" under 'View Your active Network'.
5. "Network Connections" Pop up in the Taskbar.
Or you can directly click the "Network Icon" in the Taskbar instead of above steps.
6. Next Select your connection and Right click in that and open" Properties"
For example: If your Network connection name is "TATA"
7. TATA Properties Window opens. Here General, Security, Networking and Sharing Tabs Displayed, you should click on the "Networking Tab".
8. In the 'Networking Tab', Click on the "Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4)" and Click "Properties Button"
9. It will open "Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4) Properties Box". Here Select the Option "Use the Following DNS Server Address"
10. The Google Public DNS IP addresses are as follows:
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
11. Enter these addresses In the Preferred DNS Server: 8.8.8.8 and
In the Alternate DNS Serever: 8.8.4.4(see the picture)
You can use either number as preferred or Alternate secondary DNS server. You can use both numbers, but do not use same number as both preferred and Alternate DNS Server address.

12. Finally Click "Ok" And close.
13. Now Connect to the Internet .Now your internet connection uses the Google Public DNS. The internet speed will increase notably.

Why to change to Google Public DNS :

Because many connections are provided by your ISP and ISP's DNS server should look up the each website address you enter and made request to that site's web server to provide the webpage. Many Internet connections are Access the same ISP's DNS server simultaneously .It will significantly decrease the internet speed. By using Google Public DNS server you can avoid the Delay and can get better performance.

Note: You can use these same settings to Windows Vista and XP.
