Safesearch Filtering is an option provided in Google using which we can restrict our children from browsing adult content like pornographic sites.

Computer or laptop is one thing that has become very common in each and every house today. we feel proud to say that my son or my daughter who has just turned 5 is a computer genius. He/she knows everything about computers.

This is really something which everyone of us needs to feel proud about. BUT. Yes,there is a but for this feeling. Do everyone of us feel very secure about our children Google for each and every information. Definitely not. Every parent is and will be having the fear of his child being exploited if he spends a lot of time on the computer. This is very much true.

When a girl or boy can search for ninja cartoon or Dennis the menace, the cartoons that he comes to know about while watching TV, will he not think of searching for kiss or love, the same thing that he comes to know while watching the same TV?

The answer will be YES for my question. This is the fear that every parent whose child knows how to use computer is bothered about. BUT. Yes. a but again here. Parents who are aware of the fact that they can stop their child from browsing pornographic content can be rest assured of their child not being exploited while using a computer.

Now your question would be how to stop children from doing such things? My answer would be , just by adjusting some settings in Google.

There is an option called Safesearch Filtering that helps prevent children from browsing porn content

Below are the steps to be followed to activate the settings.

1) Go to www.google.com

2) You will be presented with Google Home page.

3) Here you will be having 3 options just beside the search box. Click on Preferences, the second of the 3 options as in the image attached.

4) Now you will be presented with many options such as language settings, window settings and others among which you will have the option of Safesearch Filtering as in the image attached.

5) In this safesearch filtering you are again given three choices to select from. Select one of the options as appropriate for your browser and click on Save Preferences button at the right hand top corner of the screen.

Close the window and reopen it, go to www.google.com and your preferences would be activated.

As simple as it sounds. Now you might say, what if my child browses for such content at a place where I do not have any control. The simple answer would be talk to your child about what is good and what is bad, then you will not have the necessity of activating all the above settings even at home.
