How to remove Recent Items from windows 7 startup menu

In windows operating system we can see the recently opened items from the "Recent Items" list from startup menu. This will be useful sometimes if you forgot the files that you opened recently, you can check the recent items list and open the files directly by selecting the file. It will be helpful in private or personal computer.

If you are going to a browsing center to browse the internet or to post your resume in browsing center or more than one person using a computer results in exposing your personal details, confidential information. Privacy is one of the important factor in considering a computer or internet.

We will see how can we remove the recent list from the menu.Remember if you remove the "Recent List" from windows start up menu then the recently opened items history will removed and you cannot get it back.

Right click your mouse button (Click your mouse button 3) in task bar and select "properties" will show "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" in a separate window. Now click the "Start Menu" tab it will show a window like below.

To remove recent items

Uncheck "Store and display a list of recently opened files" option under "privacy" panel and click OK button to remove and clear the recent list. If you want to add the "Recent List" again in the startup menu then Right click the mouse button in task bar and select properties will show "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" and select "Start Menu" tab and click the checkbox "Store and display a list of recently opened files" under privacy panel then click OK button. It will get back the "Recent Items" list back to the windows startup menu list

The above process will remove the "Recent items" from the windows startup menu.
