Learn how to avoid the nagging antenna reception, network drop or signal issues with your new iPhone 4 in this article
You recently saw the announcement of the new generation
Apple iPhone 4
. You might probably also think that it is probably the best phone as it doesn't have any flaws at all. Are you sure about it? Well, there is one, which might probably be the biggest and the most controversial thing about the phone. Initially, the antenna running all along the
Apple iPhone 4
was touted as revolutionary and would be the best thing to get the reception in those pesky areas like lifts. However, this latest dramatic twist has seen this
feature of the Apple iPhone 4
as it's biggest weakness. Let us find out why.
Apple iPhone 4 Antenna - Along the side of the devices
If you will see the picture above, you will notice a silver strip of metal going along the sides of the body of the iPhone. That is the antenna and should be able to get you amazing reception. Many experts touted it as the most innovative feature yet in a mobile device. So where did things go wrong?
Apple iPhone 4 Antenna Problem - Why and How?
The picture above shows the wrong way to hold your Apple iPhone 4 as suggested by Steve Jobs and his Apple Inc. The problem begins when you place your hand right above the antenna and thus there is a sudden network drop and you might even experience total network loss. While Apple suggests better ways of holding it, truth is if you try touching the Apple iPhone 4 as recommended by Apple, you might as well not hold it, it is that difficult.
Jobs' was quoted as saying,
"Gripping any phone will result in some attenuation of its antenna performance, with certain places being worse than others depending on the placement of the antennas. This is a fact of life for every wireless phone. If you ever experience this on your iPhone 4, avoid gripping it in the lower left corner in a way that covers both sides of the black strip in the metal band, or simply use one of many available cases."
First part is OK, second part might not be agreeable to all.
Apple iPhone 4 Antenna Problem Solution
If you go by what Apple is telling you, you need to drastically change the way you hold the Apple iPhone 4 by not touching the antenna in any case or as Apple recommends, go buy a case for your Apple iPhone 4. An
Apple iPhone 4 case
will set you back by around US$29 worth cost. It is pretty much a huge let down for such a revolutionary device.
Unfortunately, this is a hardware limitation. Apple's response is awaited in this case but first reactions don't seem to be a positive one. I guess the new Apple iPhone 4 owners who sweated it out in the huge lines just for this amazing device might feel betrayed. Here's hoping Apple listens to us.
