Lock Start Menu in Windows 7

You do not want a user changes the content or appearance of the Start menu means just block it by modifying the Windows registry in windows 7.

Steps to follow

Click Start.

In field search, type the command regedit, and press Enter.

Pull the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER, Software, Microsoft, Windows, CurrentVersion, Policies.

Click menu Edit, on New then click Key.

Name the new value Explorer.

Then click the menu Edit, on New and click DWORD Value 32-bit.

Name the new value NoChangeStartMenu and confirm.

Double click on the new value, enter a field in the Value data and confirm with OK.

Close the Registry Editor and restart your computer. Now it will be impossible to add, remove or move icons in the Start menu.
