Working with Live Messenger in Windows 7

With Windows Live Messenger, you'll be able to chat live (or "chat") with your friends also equipped with the same software.Let us see how to work with live messenger in windows 7 operating sysem.


Sign in with your username Live ID


By default, Windows Live Messenger launches at startup of Windows 7. If this was not the case, start it manually by clicking the Start button and selecting "All Programs", "Windows Live" then "Windows Live Messenger.

To login, enter in the two fields in the window home software, your Live ID username and password that is associated. Check the three boxes labeled "Remember me", "Remember my password" and "Automatic Connection" to avoid having to manually connect each time you start Windows, then click "Connect".

The main window of Windows Live Messenger appears. A small web page called Windows Live Today opens at the same time. Close it and return to the main window. Upstairs, you find the information about you. There is your name, image and field Enter your personal message. Below are a search field and space, probably still empty, reserved for the list of your contacts.

Add Contacts


To add a contact, should you own a Windows Live ID, that is to say the email address he uses for his connection. If you have, click on "Add a contact or group" representing a small person with a green cross, and near the search box, then click "Add Contact".

In the window that appears, enter the address of your friend in the address field of instant messaging "and click" Next. " In the "Add your message, tell your friend that you would like to add your contacts and click on" Send Invite ".

Your friend will then receive your message on his email. Once it has verified your invitation, an icon in his name appear in the main window of Windows Live Messenger.

Talk with your friends


To speak with one of your contacts, it is first necessary that it is like you connected. This is the case if the icon is surrounded by the representative of green.

Double-click it to open when a conversation window. Enter your text in the small white rectangle at the bottom, and send it by pressing the Enter key on the keyboard. Your message appears in the upper rectangle. If your contact answers, the text appears under yours. To meet the response and continue the conversation, retype your text in the bottom rectangle.

TIP


You can add emoticons, or smileysin the conversation by selecting them via the leftmost button located just below the field where you enter your text. Another button you use to format your words, as in a word processor.

Edit your personal information


Your name, your "avatar" (the image of yourself) and your mood message: You can customize these three personal items when you log into Windows Live Messenger. Such changes occur from the main window.

To change your name, click with the mouse and select "Change your nickname. In the field "Type the name by which you want to appear" in the window that appears, enter a new name and click "OK".

To change your personal image or avatar, double-click it and choose a new image in the window "Select your display picture" that appears. To use a personal photo, click instead on the "Browse" button, then navigate to the folder containing the photo to use. Once you have selected, click "Open" then "OK" to validate.

To change the personal message that all your contacts find their homes next to the icon representing you, click in the field "Enter your personal message" and change it. Click on "Enter" to confirm.
