In this resource I will tell you some simple ways to optimize Windows Vista for better performance.
Have you ever wondered over what is the speed of your computer at present in comparison to what it had one year ago? Are you one of those who keep waiting and waiting while opening a program or a file ? In this resource I will tell you some simple ways to optimize Windows Vista for better performance
Delete unused programs
It happens in most of the cases that you purchase a computer from a shop and the shopkeeper loads your computer with a lot of softwares (in many cases as requested by you ) .Moreover some people think that they should have a collection of every type of software in their computer. If any of these situation is with you too then its time to have a reconsideration now. Just look at the softwares which are of no use to you and uninstall or remove them from your computer. Alternatively you can store such softwares on CDs for further use .This will surely help you to increase the performance of Windows vista in your computer. On the other hand if you keep them in your computer they will lower memory, disk space, and processing power of your computer.
Limit the programs loading at startup
There are many programs that automatically load up when you start your computer .These include antiviruses, instant messengers, Bluetooth etc.Such automatic loading of programs is not beneficial in case of programs that you use less frequently. That is so because this automatic loading slows down the memory of your computer and loading of operating.Using windows defender you can find such programs and disable them in order to increase the speed of your computer.
Defragment your hard drive
Disk Defragmenter helps to increase the speed of your computer by rearranging the fragmented data making your hard disk work more efficiently.
Clean up your hard disk
You can use Disk clean up to remove unnecessary files on your hard disk in order to make your computer run faster. It removes temporary files from your computer and also empties the recycle bin.
Do not run too many programs at the same time
Running too many programs at the same time can also make windows vista run slower on your computer. Thus avoid using too many programs at the same time on your computer.
Turn off visual effects
You can increase the speed of windows vista by disabling its visual effects. This is not needed in case the processor of your computer is fast. Go to performance options in the control panel and in the visual effects select the option of Adjust for best Performance.
Add more memory
There is no doubt that more memory means more speed to your computer.
If a computer with windows vista is running low it may be because of less memory. Thus the solution is to increase the memory.
To run windows vista you should have computer with at least 512 megabytes (MB) of random access memory (RAM).But for better performance you can use 1 GB or more.Another way to increase the memory is to use ReadyBoost on Windows.Using it you can use the storage space of a removable device like Pendrive to incresase the speed of your computer.
Scan viruses and spyware
Viruses and spyware can be a major reason for your computer working slow.Viruses are programs that hamper the working of a computer and spywares are programs designed to watch your activity on the internet .You should keep your antivirus updated to prevent your computer from viruses.
Updates from the manufacturer
You can check for updates for your computer model by visiting the website of your computer manufacturer. Most of the manufactures keep providing updates for their computers of different models. Updating your computer with these updates will surely increase the performance of windows vista on your computer.

Optimizing the windows vista speed by using a USB Device as Physical memory. The task is explained in the below file how to use the free memory in the USB Disk drive
Microsoft’s windows had two options for the memory requirement of the computer, so that the computing can be done at cheaper rates and that too without installing the physical memory.
1. Physical Memory (RAM)
2. Page File (A virtual memory file, stored on hard disk).
The page file is used by the Windows OS to cater the needs of various applications when the physical memory is fully used up. The reason for that is, that Virtual memory is slower as compared to the physical memory and thus Phyical memory takes the first priority.
However, with the release of Windows Vista, Microsoft has introduced a new technology called ReadyBoost. With the help of this technology one can use any Flash drive, SD Cards, CF Cards as the third memory option for the computer.
Now, the benefits of USB Flash Drive or Cards as a source of Memory :
1. It is faster than the virtual memory which is accessed through the hard disk drive.
2. It is cheaper as compared to the actually Physical Memory.
How can it be activated ?
In order to activate the ReadyBoost technology on your FlashDrive or Memory Cards, you have to follow these steps…
1. Open My Computer.
2. Right Click on the Removable Disk Drive and select Properties.
3. Click on ReadyBoost Tab.
4. Enable the feature by selecting the option and allocate the amount of space you want to use as memory.
