This resource provides information on how to protect your operating system from the spyware and Mal ware attacks.

Actually the windows operating system are the one that is easily attacked by the Spyware and Malware. The windows operating system stores all the files and programs with some extension. If the extension is known to the Spyware and the Malware, it will be easy for them to attack the system. If the extensions are not known, apparently you can protect the system from the spyware and the malware attack. All you have to do is to hide the extension and keep. It can be said that in the windows operating system the windows defender is very good to protect the system from the spyware and malware. The windows defender is efficient enough to do this particular job.

Here are the procedures to hide the extension in windows 7:

1. First step you open the explorer

2. Second step click on the "organize" that is present in the left top of the window, which will take you to the folder options.

Organize

3. Click on the "Folder and search option"

Folder options

4. In the view tab you can find the advanced setting.

5. In the advanced setting check the "Hide extensions for known file types"

Folder Options Edited

6. Then click OK.

This will actually help you to hide the extension of the files for the external program that is trying access it.

In the Microsoft XP this option can be chosen from the "Folder options" in the explorer.
