In this article I will explain how to increase the speed of your PC.This article will be helpful for people using windows 7, Vista and XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) on their computers.

1.Free up space on hard disk

You can increase the speed and performance of your pc by freeing up some space from your hard disk. You can use Disk Cleanup tool for this purpose. The tool itself recognizes the files on your PC you can delete without causing any problem to the system and then gives an option to you to delete related files too.

Files that can be deleted using Disk Cleanup
a.Temporary Internet files.
b.Downloaded program files
c.Contents of the Recycle Bin.
d.Windows temporary files
e.Installed programs that are of no use to you now.

How to use Disk Cleanup

1.Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, click System Tools and then click Disk Cleanup. Thereafter mention the drive which you want to clean
2.Then Disk Cleanup tool will calculate the space you can free, thereafter you can see the content of the Files to delete list. If you do not want to delete a particular file clear the check box for that file.
3.When you will be asked for the confirmation to delete the files, click yes.

The disk cleanup will remove the selected files making your computer faster and cleaner.

2.Speed up access to data

You can use Disk Defragmenter to consolidate fragmented files and folders on the hard disk of your computer so that each file takes a separate space on the disk. This defragmentation will help to increase the speed of your PC.

How to use Disk Defragmenter

1.Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, click System Tools, and then click Disk Defragmenter.
2. Select the drives that you want to defragment, from the Disk Defragmenter dialog box, and then click the Analyze button. Thereafter a dialog box will appear informing you know whether the analyzed drives should be defragmented or not.
3. In order to defragment the selected drive or drives, click the Defragment disk button. Once the defragmentation is complete, Disk Defragmenter will display the results.
4.If you want to close the Disk Defragmenter utility, click the Close button on the title bar of the window.

3.Detect and repair disk errors

You can also run the Error Checking utility to check the integrity of the files stored on your hard disk.
