This article shows how to create a system restore point manually in Windows 7, using screenshots for step by step instructions.
System Restore is a built-in feature in Windows which is automatically triggered any major changes are done in the system. System Restore points are created to go back to the point where your system was stable. Changes like installing programs, new drivers, updates may lead to instability at times and you may want to revert back the changes. At this point of time, System Restore is used to roll back the changes and restore your systems stability back.
Though system restore points are automatically created when changes are made in the system, they can even be created manually.
How to create system restore Points manually
1. Go to
Start>>All Programs>>Accessories>>System Tools>>System Restore
2. On the welcome screen, select
Create a restore point
3. On the second screen give a description to your restore point (example date and time) and click
Create
In addition to manually creating system restore points, you can even schedule tasks to create restore points at specified intervals. For example you might want to create a system restore point at 8 P.M daily.
Schedule Tasks to create system restore points
1. In Control Panel, select
Scheduled Tasks
2. Double click
Add Scheduled Tasks
3. Click
on the first page
4. Select
System Restore
from the list
5. Give an appropriate name to your task, and select an option as to when you want your System Restore to run
6. Give appropriate date and time
7. If prompted provide username and password and then click
Finish
Scheduled System Restore will run on scheduled date and time in background.
