System Restore is a built-in feature in Windows which is automatically triggered any major changes are done in the system. System Restore points are created to go back to the point where your system was stable. Changes like installing programs, new drivers, updates may lead to instability at times and you may want to revert back the changes. At this point of time, System Restore is used to roll back the changes and restore your systems stability back.

Though system restore points are automatically created when changes are made in the system, they can even be created manually.
